What are the guidelines for creating a textural reduction?

there's a piano arrangement of this pop tune and id like to analyze the voice leading in it. my theory teacher says that a good pop tune will usually have good voice leading so i want to see what he means exactly. its a piano arrangement so its not nicely broken up into four parts, how can i do so?What are the guidelines for creating a textural reduction?
Without seeing the actual piano part it is difficult to give specific suggestions since piano arrangements can be laid out in so many different ways.

The best way to start would be to write out the melody line as the soprano part then figure out the bass line using the piano bass part as your guide. From there you would have to examine the piano notes in between the soprano and bass parts to see if you can come up with logical voice lines for the alto and tenor parts.

Good luck.
