Can a lightening fast regurgitation of a bunch of ';meaningless'; notes ever produce a truly memorable guitar solo?

.How far can you get with technique alone, when it comes to creating legendary, heartrending guitar sounds?
Speed alone will do nothing for anyone who really knows music or has soul. The guitar is such a neat instrument because you really can pour your soul into it. You can bend notes, vary the treble, change the volume, make the instrument laugh and weep. An acoustic guitar is so touch sensitive - it responds to the skill of each individual player. Fantastic effects can be produced electronically, but I prefer the sound of a good acoustic guitar. How far can you get with technique alone, when it comes to creating legendary, heartrending guitar sounds?
CHECK OUT MICHAEL HEDGES ON YOU/TUBE. HIS GUITAR PLAYING IS UNBELIEVABLE. ';RICKOVER'S DREAM'; AND ';AERIAL BOUNDARIES ARE TWO OF MY FAVORITES. Report Abuse

Playing the guitar in any fashion at all can be legendary and heartrending when a person puts their soul into it
two good examples from opposite ends of the spectrum
Yngwie Malmsteen and Carlos Santana
The technical ability, transitioning between the notes at such a high speed (especially when improvised) is very impressive. But you are right, it doesn't necessarily make it memorable. One of my favorite solos was by a band called Hi-Standard covering the song California Dreaming. It wasn't the most technically difficult or longest solo, but it fit the song so well. It sounds fantastic.
