It's not a Democratic or Republican problem regarding education. Instead of partisan name calling we really need to sit down and come up with solutions. Our education system is in crisis and bi-partisanship is a place to start.Is Collin Powell Finally Fed Ed with Dems Creating so Many High School Drop Outs in Dem Cities?
Did this problem start in 2006? I don't think so. This problem started 30 years ago. We, the people, are responsible for the dire shape of our education system. WE voted into power these people that have help destroy education in America. Even we, as parents, have contributed to the problem. We have increasingly became a society of less caring for others, taking advantage of each other whenever we could. We have taught our children well. It's ok to take from others. It's ok to steal from others as long as you get away with it. It's ok to cre less about anyone except ourselves. Even Colin Powell showed this tendancy when he was SofS. He knew that attacking Iraq was wrong, yet he went along with it. He could have spoken out against it, but didn't. Maybe he could have prevented the deaths of 4,000 American lives. But he didn't.
Education has been pushing kids that need a little more effort into the streets for a long time now. Not everybody can have degrees but everybody can be educated. When we realize this and hold teachers accountable, we'll see a change. NCLB is a joke that pushes teachers to push even more students out of the educational system so the test scores look good. I say every student that drops out should count against that school instead of not at all. It should count against them every year until the kid is 21, as that is the age limit for a student in special ed to attend. Most of our drop outs would be special ed. This is not a Dem/Rep problem, this is every ones problem!
Colin Powell is a good man who actually wants to fix problems rather than just blame people.





I'm sure that he'd rather work towards a solution than just blame ';Dems';.
